Music

Our Vocal Ensemble sings in approximately 20 community performances each year, and at numerous Mercy McAuley school Masses and events throughout the school year. They also compete at the national level. Auditions for Mercy McAuley’s Vocal Ensemble are held in January.

Students of all experience levels may take our chorus class, which aims to develop students’ music reading, sight-singing ability, vocal production and stage presence. The Chorus performs at various school activities and at the Christmas and Spring concerts, some of which include combined concerts with the choral department at La Salle High School.

Members of the orchestra/concert band perform in the Christmas and Spring Concerts, Graduation, and many other Mercy McAuley events. They also have the option to participate in the spring musical. A “Beginning Orchestra/Concert Band” class is also offered to students who have never played an instrument, or who once played and would like to play again. Individual coaching is provided and is open to students of all grade levels. These students may be placed into the full Orchestra/Concert Band as determined by the Music Director.

Mercy McAuley’s Piano Lab course provides an opportunity for students of all levels to play the piano in a lab setting. Beginners learn how to play the piano, to read music and play basic tunes, and experienced piano students learn new music and improve their skills.
