Dear Mercy McAuley Community,

Thanks for Giving.

Gotcha! You expected this to be a solicitation, didn't you?  Or perhaps you thought this was simply a bad Thanksgiving Day pun. It's neither of these.

For this month's Reflections from the President, I struggled with a bit of writer's block, but not because there isn't amazing news to share from Mercy McAuley. The truth is, there are SO many positive things happening here, that it's difficult to convey them all in one concise email. From our growing sense of place, our emerging community and our sisterhood that gets stronger every day, to the excitement of our first fall play this weekend, to an academic team that will be the one to beat this year, to a highly successful fall sports season – the positive energy on our campus is astounding!

We've also seen early fundraising success with commitments from long-time donors and generous surprises from others who prefer to remain anonymous. And, we're not afraid to crow about a promising recruitment season, as we've hosted nearly 340 8th graders on shadow days (and counting), 270 families at two Open House events, dozens of families at Parent Info Nights and coffee meetings, and literally thousands of fans all season long at sporting events, performances and club activities.

And, in the midst of all this activity, we have laughed, cried, prayed, celebrated, voiced, stood for something important to us, and challenged ourselves, just as Catherine McAuley urged us - to be better each day.

Frankly, it's overwhelming to think about how far we have come.

During this month of giving, please know how very grateful we are for each of you. Thank you for choosing to stand with us, to pray with us, and to share your talents, time and treasure with us!

  • To every student, we are grateful for your gifts. Share them more!
  • To every teacher, we are grateful for your knowledge and the caring way that you challenge us to greater heights. Expect greatness!
  • To every employee, past and present, we are grateful to stand on your shoulders, and we carry your passion and commitment with us. Bleed Mercy McAuley pride!
  • To every parent, grandparent and guardian, we are grateful for the trust that you place in us each time you release your young Wolf into our care. Pray for our young women as we pray for you!
  • To every donor, we are grateful for your generosity of spirit. Know that your resources make an impact!
  • To every volunteer, board member, community advocate and friend, we are grateful that you help spread our message of mercy far and wide. Your positivity lifts us!
  • To every alumna, we are grateful for your wisdom, heart and the legacy that you leave for us to strive, achieve and show mercy. Continue to lift while you climb!
  • To every Sister of Mercy, we are grateful for your prayers, your commitment to the education of young women, and for your thoughtful leadership in launching our new school. Your example continues to inspire!
  • To God, we are grateful to be and to become. We know You are with us, and we rely upon your goodness!

So, again I say, thanks for giving of yourselves, for it is you who make Mercy McAuley what it is and what it will be. What an awesome gift you are—the gift that keeps on giving!
