September 24, 2019 Dear Mercy McAuley Community,
"If the love of God really reigns in your heart, it will quickly show itself in the exterior." —Catherine McAuley
Happy Mercy Day, 2019!
Today is the day that the entire Mercy community—worldwide—celebrates the anniversary of the opening of Catherine McAuley's first ministry, the House of Mercy, on Baggott Street in Dublin, Ireland. Catherine's vision to provide education, medical and basic services to her neighbors in need was the spark that ignited Mercy education around the world. Her servant leadership and commitment to living a life in Christ was the true genesis of Mercy McAuley High School. Our core values of Faith, Compassion, Service, Leadership and Excellence are derived from her inspiration.
Today, through prayer, reflection, fellowship and fun, Mercy McAuley has taken another great leap forward toward ensuring that the legacy of Catherine McAuley continues to thrive for young women in Cincinnati! For those of you who were not able to join our festivities today, I'd like to take a moment to share with you the kinds of activities that kept Mercy McAuley buzzing with life and joy on this important day:
While many Mercy and McAuley graduates over the years never experienced Mercy Day as a tradition in the way we celebrate with our sisters around the world today, I would like to assure you that on this day, our school lived the Spirit of Mercy in a way that is relevant and meaningful to our entire community! What starts with our amazing, talented and spirited students has been infectious!
So, if you know a current Wolf, please ask her about Mercy Day 2019. If not, watch our social media pages for likes, comments and shares about today and the rest of the Mercy McAuley Spirit Week. I think you will recognize in our Wolves' expressions the bonds and traditions that will bind them tightly together in a sisterhood that will last a lifetime! Sincerely,
