January 16, 2020 Dear Mercy McAuley Community,
"We must strive to do ordinary things extraordinarily well." —Catherine McAuley
In reflecting upon the last few months of year two, this could not be a more exciting time for Mercy McAuley High School.
Year One—Check.
Year Two Launch—Awesome!
First Semester 2019? Well, let's call it "ordinary." Are you surprised? Not "Amazing?" "Astounding?" "Supermegafantastic?" Where is the hyperbole, you wonder? Where is the hype?
Allow me to suggest that Mercy McAuley's "ordinary" just means that we, like Catherine McAuley, continue to strive for the extraordinary in all that we do. In fact, the Mercy McAuley experience might be described by our students as "amazing," "the best" or "home away from home."
Our school's (extra)ordinary is embedded in our academic rigor, fidelity to our Catholic, Mercy educational mission, commitment to excellence in all we do including athletics and the arts, and in our ability to Ignite the Potential Within each and every student at Mercy McAuley. If you ask our Wolves, they might talk about what an "ordinary" day looks like:
Winter is an important time to celebrate the (extra)ordinary at Mercy McAuley. Here is just a taste of what is happening in the coming weeks:
I invite you to learn more about what makes our ordinary extraordinary. Please join me on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 7 p.m. in the Mercy McAuley library for the second annual State of the School Address. During our time together, I will share with our community more about:
After the presentation, please plan to stay for fellowship and socializing hosted by our Parent Pack. Members will be present to answer questions about the organization and life as a Mercy McAuley parent. To help us plan for refreshments, please RSVP HERE.
Also, don't miss the fun(draising) and community of the Fire & Ice Gala Auction co-chaired this year by Julie and Tim Horton and Margaret and Chris Sexton. All proceeds from this event benefit the students of Mercy McAuley High School. I would like to thank our co-chairs and their tremendous committee for all of the work to make the evening extra(ordinary). Tickets are available online HERE.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the (extra)ordinary results of our year-end fundraising efforts. By the date of publication, Mercy McAuley High School has received contributions amounting to over 70% of our annual fundraising goal. Your tremendous support, faith and generosity will ensure that a Mercy Education will be available for the Class of 2024 and for many years into the future.
As always, if you haven't yet been to visit us at Mercy McAuley, I invite you to take a tour on an "ordinary" day. I'm certain you will find our school to be extraordinary.
